Welcome to the eTraining Portal for Institut Pasteur Vaccinology Course

The Vaccinology course, delivered within the framework of the Epidemiology and Public Health (EPI), is dedicated to candidates with a medical or scientific training background who are interested in all aspects of this new discipline: medical and public health students, scientific Master II and PhD students (immunology, microbiology), physicians, pharmacists, veterinarians and other health professionals.

Course information

The course is taught in English.
The objective is to offer an integrated overview of vaccinology, from public health and scientific data which justify the development of a vaccine, to its delivery to the populations in the context of industrialized and developing countries.

The course comprises the 6 following modules:

  • Vaccinology, an integrative discipline.
  • Immunological aspects of vaccination.
  • New strategies for the characterization of protecting antigens.
  • Preclinical and clinical development: basic principles.
  • Major infectious diseases: epidemiology, physiopathology, and vaccines under development.
  • Impact of vaccines on the control of infectious diseases: success and failure.
Besides the lectures, the teachers will ensure methodology workshops based on a partnership with the HSeT Foundation which has developed this eLearning website dedicated to the course. Personalized tutoring is also ensured.

For questions on scientific content or eligibility for the course, please contact Dr A. Phalipon (armelle.phalipon@pasteur.fr) or Dr F. Tangy (ftangy@pasteur.fr). Several fellowships will be available thanks to industrial partnerships.

  • Full-time, except Saturdays, from March 1st, to April 2nd, 2010 (examinations included)
